God With Us: A Study of Matthew

About the Study

All around us are broken homes, wounded friendships, and tattered churches. These weights are both personal and pervasive. We question whether God is present in our pain and devastation. Is God really with us? 

The Gospel of Matthew tells the story of Jesus entering the brokenness of our world. He encountered broken laws, fractured communities, and the destructive effects of sin and death. By entering humanity, He experienced temptation, hardship, and even death.

Yet amid all this brokenness, Jesus' arrival brought hope. He became "God with us," extending love to the sick, the outcasts, and the despised. He was the long-awaited Messiah, bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to earth. 

In this 10-lesson study, students will navigate through the Gospel of Matthew and ten specific scenes that explore what it means that Jesus is Immanuel, God with us. Each lesson also incorporates a Bible study method designed to enrich group or personal study with the intent of providing tools for future exploration of the Scriptures.
