commonplace lead curator
(a fancy term for "Chief Editor")
Daughters of Promise is seeking a visionary and collaborative Lead Curator to guide the creative and editorial direction of Commonplace Magazine. This individual will serve as the primary steward of the magazine’s voice, mission, and impact—leading content strategy, overseeing production, and cultivating meaningful relationships with our readers and contributors.
The Lead Curator will combine strong leadership skills with creative innovation to ensure the magazine remains fresh, relevant, and deeply meaningful to our audience. This is a role for someone who can inspire a team, manage moving pieces with excellence, and shape stories that matter. She must be passionate about meaningful storytelling that resonates deeply with readers, and be able to balance big-picture vision with day-to-day execution.
Commonplace issues are released three times a year. As a result, the workload for Lead Content Curator will ebb and flow throughout the year, never exceeding part-time hours. The highest volume of work takes place in January, May, and September.
This role offers the opportunity to shape a publication that speaks into the everyday, ordinary lives of women with beauty, truth, and relevance. As Lead Curator, you will influence not only the pages of Commonplace Magazine, but the conversations and communities that grow around it.
If you are a strategic thinker, a gifted storyteller, and a collaborative leader ready to steward a meaningful platform into its next chapter, we would love to hear from you.
