Any woman who has mothered (her own children or others') knows the great sacrifice required for this holy work. In the pangs of pregnancy and childbirth, sleepless nights, making of meals, and giving of time and energy, we often feel the extent of our own limitations in being poured out for the ones we love. This art print is inspired by the words of Jesus on the night of His crucifixion: “This is my body, broken for you. Take and eat." Following the way of Jesus, it is our brokenness that allows us to be poured out for the sustenance of many – for the creation and keeping of life itself. This is holy work; and in our weakness, He becomes our strength, a promise to cling to in the everyday work of motherhood.
